Who doesn’t love eating turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing I can keep going. Then, while you’re eating you see a sweet face looking up at you, but you aren’t sure what is safe to share with your pup. Let me give you some examples on what is safe to feed them. If you don’t want to give your pup human food but want to give them something special, I have a suggestion for you too. My favorite thing to give my pup is Merrick canned food that is named “Thanksgiving Day Dinner.” Of course, the main ingredients are turkey, carrots, sweet potato, green beans, and apples. This is something they can enjoy on Thanksgiving Day along with you.
Safe food to give your pup on Thanksgiving Day
- Turkey
- It is not recommended to give them skin off the turkey because it is not easily digestible for your pup.
- Only small amounts of turkey because there is seasoning on the turkey. It is not good for them to have a lot of seasoning on their food.
- Sweet potatoes
- Do not feed raw or feed them the skin.
- Cooked Sweet potato offers them good fiber and some vitamins and promotes a healthy digestive system.
- Again, feed small amounts because we put seasoning on our sweet potatoes. If you feed them bland sweet potatoes, then you can feed them a bit more. But remember, too much potatoes can cause constipation.
- Carrots and green beans
- These are another great source of vitamins for your pup.
- Contains potassium.
- Like the sweet potatoes, you can feed more if there is no seasoning,
- Cranberries
- Plain cranberries are also very good for your pup. Not the ones from the can but the fresh cranberries.
- It is great to help clean out the bladder.
- Also a great source of vitamins.
- Good fiber source.
*Any vegetables are a good source of vitamins and fiber which are beneficial to your pup. Please be careful with the seasoning and the amounts you give them.
*If your pup is allergic to chicken, the Merrick can has chicken broth in the wet food, so please read the label and find something else.
