Top 10 Dog Foods I Recommend

Finding the right dog food can be so hard. This article is here to give you a variety of dog foods I recommend feeding to your pup and that I would personally feed to my pups as well. Here’s the varieties of food that I recommend; kibble, dehydrated and raw food are the best kind. Don’t be overwhelmed by the options I give you, because I am going to explain the difference between the kibble, dehydrated and raw foods.

1. Zignature (dog kibble)

2. Fromm (dog kibble)

3. Nultrisource (dog kibble)

4. Stella and Chewy (dog kibble)

5. Canidae dog food (dog kibble)

6. Addiction (dehydrated)

7. Honest kitchen (dehydrated)

8. Sojos (dehydrated)

9. Stella and Chewy (raw)

10. Vital Essentials (raw)

Let’s start off with the dog food kibble, because that is the most popular dog food to feed your pup.

Zignature- This is a dog kibble that is a single protein dog food, this is the dog food for your dog if your dog is having some kind of allergy reaction to an old dog food and especially you aren’t really sure what they are allergic to. Then Zignature is the best way to go, because it’s a single protein food that will help you eliminate what the dog’s body is not digesting well. It is also a grain-free, potato-free, and chicken-free (highest allergy for dogs) food. What I also love about Zignature is that they have rare proteins, for example kangaroo, goat, and Guinea fowl. This can be a good way to try giving to your dog a new protein they haven’t been exposed to before.

Fromm- This food is a locally owned dog food company from Wisconsin. Fromm is a very popular food that most dogs really enjoy, and most of the time it’s because this food has diary in it in the form of cheese. It also has some probiotics and prebiotics in it, which is always a plus for the dog’s immune system. If you are also looking for a kibble that is small for your pet then Fromm is good as well, their kibble is tiny for smaller and easier for your dog to chew. But don’t worry, for bigger dogs they make different-sized kibble. Fromm offers grain and grain-free kibble as well.

Nultrisource- There are multiple reasons why I love this food. One of the reasons is because they have their very own prebiotics and probiotics in their formula. They make their own instead of buying them that’s not local. Another thing I love about Nultrisource is how they make different formulas and are as simple as chicken and rice to high plains which is beef, trout and turkey. So, they have a multiprotein or a single protein. Since one of my pups has a super sensitive belly, I used this kibble for the longest time.

Stella and chewy- This is a food that dogs usually love. Stella and Chewy is a baked kibble which means that when the food is baked with all the nutrients that won’t be taken out because they use an oven. A lot of dogs will prefer this as well because some of these ingredients have the actual freeze-dried Stella and Chewy treat mixed with their kibble.

Canidae- I like to recommend this one to people who want to stay on a budget but also still want decent food. This food is an all stage food, so you can feed your dog this with all stages of their life. It also comes in grains formula.

Addiction (dehydrated) Dehydrated raw is a second version of giving your dog raw meat. It is a healthier option and the dogs are getting all the nutrients they need. Dehydrated is also easier to deal with than raw meat just because you have to let the raw defrost compared to dehydrated, which you just add water to complete the meal. Currently I am feeding my dogs dehydrated dog food, which is Addiction, Honest kitchen and Sojos. Right now, my dogs are on Addiction. All my dogs have acted really well on it because addiction is like Zignature. They have different proteins than the rest and that helps with dogs who have a sensitive belly (like Teeny my Wiener dog) and is better quality. Dehydrated is a really good way to go because instead of using the process where all nutrients go away in the cooking stage, the dehydration process allows all the nutrients to remain in the kibble. One example of a different protein Addiction has is Kangaroo, which Is a protein dogs are not used to so it’s less of a chance they will have an allergy to it. Since all the nutrients are there, there will be a lower feeding portion you will be giving your dog. Preparing it is also super easy and at the end it will turn into oatmeal. Mia has a really easy time eating this because Miss Mia has no teeth, and this is easy for her to just grab and eat.

Honest Kitchen(dehydrated)- Another good dehydrated food is Honest kitchen. Honest Kitchen doesn’t have the variety of proteins like Addiction but is just as good in my opinion. They have all the nutrients a dog needs that doesn’t disappear during the process of cooking. What I really like about Honest Kitchen is they do give you a variety of grain and grain-free formula, and also a base mix. So, if you want to still feed you pup kibble but want to make sure they are getting everything, they make a base mix. Again, easy to cook, all you have to do is add water and you are done.

Sojos- Sojos is just like Honest kitchen.

Stella and Chewy & Vital Essentials (Raw)- Raw is another good way to give food to your pups knowing they have all the nutrients they need without the unnecessary added substitutes that some kibble puts in their formula. Raw food is the most natural way to feed your pups. You will know all the ingredients in the raw food and it’s a healthier option for your pups that some of the kibble does not provide or disappears during the process of the cooking.
